Happy February, and welcome to Black History Month! The celebration of Black History Month began as “Negro History week” which was created by Carter G. Woodson (an African American historian, scholar, educator, & publisher) in 1926. It became a month-long celebration in 1976!

Lewis Howard Latimer (1848-1928) was an inventor and draftsman. He learned mechanical drawing while working for a Boston patent attorney. He then later invented an electric lamp & a carbon filament for light bulbs.
