JN.1.50 has surprised me, but the numbers are still pretty small, & the 3 double-counted Ginkgo Bozoworks pooled samples still distorts growth a bit.

KP.3 is starting to outcompete KP.2. Its unique Q493E mutation brings some critical features: 1) KP.3 has higher ACE2 binding affinity than KP.2. 2) KP.3 is more immune evasive. KP.3 +31del (KP.3.1.1) is the most. 3) KP.3 is especially good at evading Class 1 antibodies.

XEC is a new recombinant of KS.1.1 and KP.3.3 that some of us have been tracking for the last couple of weeks. Though it's growing against KP.3.1.1, in my opinion it's to early to know if it will have any impact down the line. A lot of time for things to change.

Yes, we have seen a rapid increase since Slovenia uploaded the first sequence on XEC.However, we still need to observe XEC, because KP. 3. 1. 1. * Is not a small challenge to it.
