BREAKING: My statement on today's SCOTUS ruling limiting court restraints on unconstitutional presidential actions: The Supreme Court’s ruling means that the judiciary will now have fewer tools to protect the constitutional rights of Americans. 1/

The Supreme Court today has effectively expanded the power of the presidency at a time when we, as a nation, are veering dangerously close to authoritarianism.

The Supreme Court’s decision today in Trump v. CASA is a stark and urgent reminder that our democracy is only as strong as the institutions that uphold it. The Court may have narrowed the path to justice — but it has not closed it. campaignlegal.org/update/us-supr…

We Campaign Legal Center call on Congress to end the President’s unjustified takeover of MPD and militarization of our streets, and finally to redress the denial of full democracy for the people of D.C. through statehood.

To those who say a call for DC statehood is politically naive during this time, I commend the words of Frederick Douglass, a great Washingtonian in his later years: “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will.”

Eduardo Ferrer’s excellent analysis of the actual FACTS about crime in DC is a must read for anyone who actually cares about it. The stats also require that media label as “false” every claim by the Pres and his allies about rampant crime in DC. 51st.news/opinion-trump-…

This is the kind of action we DC residents need and expect of our elected officials. Appeasement of a wanna’ be dictator has never saved anyone. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/…

DC residents pay more per capita in federal taxes than any other jurisdiction and have fought in every war since the founding of the Republic. Yet, they are denied the same rights as other Americans. The lack of statehood for DC residents is undemocratic and un-American.

Our country was founded on the principle that government without the consent of the governed is illegitimate. Lawmakers who support democracy must respect the will of DC residents and reject this attempt to overturn laws enacted by their elected councilmembers and mayor.
