“To gain the habit of saying what has to be said in fluent English, to be ready with an answer to an opponents objection, to conquer the natural shyness of speaking in public... is a part of education that is of great service to boys in after life” - Wise words, Ousel Vol.1(1896)

A huge congratulations to St Peters for winning the Junior House Debating Final. Great preparation converted into great speeches for Giles Halsey and Ed Fish, who opposed the motion that; “This House would ban online shopping”

Today marks 80 years since Sir Winston Churchill became PM. On debating, he wrote: “If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.”

Our member of the Society, Ollie Gregory, has been cycling nearly 50km a day to raise both money and awareness towards issues surrounding mental health. It would be great if you could support him by donating to his chosen charity, Mind UK - Keep going Ollie !

Yesterday the Society met online for the 1st time in history. Whilst the House spoke persuasively on environmentalism, the Opposition focused on mental health and the difficulties of providing internet for the less privileged. Special mentions go to S. Maling & new member A. Edun
