So many girls get told they have ‘traits of autism’ by mental health services but not autism. Spoiler - the majority of these girls are autistic, they just don’t fit the gender-biased, outdated and misinformed screening and diagnostic tool used.

Autistic people have been saying this for quite a while now. It's rather problematic for CAMHS who offer little other than CBT-based support if you can access support at all.

We should be able to recognise autism in non-distressed, happy autistic children. They should not have to wait until they are burnt out and broken before they can be diagnosed.
