always shocks me to see how many states only use male pronouns in statute, like 'he shall' rather than 'they shall' or 'he/she shall'. i've come across this in ID, MA, MS, NH, NJ, NY, SC, SD, VA & WY - and there are probably more - in my current 50-state comparison project
