So the word we are hearing is GOP gets together and “plans” how they are going to treat Rep. Justin Jones. According to their members, if he “behaves” today, he can talk on the floor tomorrow. Sounds like overseers to me.

Despite Rep. Chris Todd physically assaulting me on the House floor, my Republican colleagues voted to ban me from speaking for the next two days for “recording” on the floor.

A dark day for our democracy.

Poverty is a policy choice. Mass incarceration is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. Insulin rationing is a policy choice. Climate disintegration is a policy choice. Billionaire tax loopholes are a policy choice.

Make no mistake: We have the power to change things.

Rep Chris Todd just shoved Rep. Justin Jones and Republicans voted against ruling him out of order. However, Republicans ruled Jones out of order twice for video taping with his phone.

I cannot put into words the amount of courage and bravery Justin Jones shows every single day. He is actively working in a legislature that has targeted, harassed, expelled, and demeaned him. But he stays and fights for the people. Truly an American hero of this generation.

Yesterday my Republican colleagues passed a bill to report professors for teaching “divisive concepts.”

Instead of answering my questions, the sponsor questioned my literacy and talked about “people of my race.”

Clearly his views were influenced by his segregated schooling.

Ever notice how forgiving loans is suddenly a big problem when students get much-needed relief, but nobody blinks an eye when billionaires get their PPP loans forgiven? Or when corporations are handed billions in subsidies?

Yesterday my Republican colleagues passed a $700,000,000 corporate giveaway while everyday Tennesseans struggle paycheck to paycheck.

We were sent here to represent THE PEOPLE and the common benefit, not wealthy donors and corporate benefits.

This is an appreciation post for my friend Rep. Justin Jones. A year ago yesterday he was expelled from the TN legislature. Since, he’s become an inspiration to millions of people.

1. In a horrific move, Tennessee has just passed a bill allowing parents who are religiously or morally opposed to LGBTQ+ people to adopt LGBTQ+ kids.

This could result in anti-LGBTQ+ foster parents putting LGBTQ+ kids through conversion therapy.
