The blacksmith of Dalry made himself a suit of armour fitted with retractable spikes. Letting the serpent swallow him, he triggered the spikes, rolled around & forced his way out of the carcass. It was so mangled that the Water of Ken is said to have ran red for 3 days! 2/2

#SiteOfTheWeek This beautiful medieval brooch was found in #StJohnsTownOfDalry. Made of silver with gilded decorative plaques, it's likely the work of a local goldsmith dating to the 13th or 14th centuries. These brooches could also act as a form of portable bullion. #LoveDandG

Feeling emotional today. Less than 3 months ago, I was lying in the High Dependancy Unit in Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital having had life saving surgery to replace my necrotic mandible with the Fibula bone from my leg.
