The extent AND severity of coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef in 2024 is by far the worst ever recorded.

It would make you weep (again).

I got to see Joni Mitchell's fist concert in decades last summer. It was magic—so many of her lyrics hit harder with the years.
At one point she looked up at the lights of the audience all waving their cellphone flashlights, sounding just delighted: 'How are they doing that?'

Today, The New Yorker has run an excerpt from my book, Everyone Who Is Gone Is Here (out Tuesday). This is, in part, the story of Keldy Mabel Gonzáles Brebe de Zúniga, who was among the first parents separated during the Trump Admin's zero-tolerance policy. newyorker.com/books/page-tur…

New Interview: I talked to Daniella Weiss, a West Bank settler and activist, about how her religious views shape her view of the conflict, why she thinks human rights should not be considered universal, and her movement’s extreme plans for the region. newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/t…
