My article today in The Conversation highlights the recent devastating cuts to Earth Science in Australian universities and how both government policies and university choices are to blame. theconversation.com/australia-badl… via The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand
The St Anthony Falls Lab Jurassic Tank XES-02 experiment provides some excellent data to illustrate how stratigraphy forms as a result of constant sediment input, changing sea level, and ongoing subsidence

Prof. Ronika Power Natalie Isaacs 1 Million Women Macquarie University MQ Workplace Diversity & Inclusion Debbie Haski-Leventhal @WomenSciAUST Hmm... meanwhile, as one of the (many) women made redundant by Macquarie last year, I spent IWD in a meeting over whether I can continue running my climate change research grant now that I'm no longer paid for it...
Belated paper post (and it's free to read): In underground coal seams, a diverse range of methane-producing microbes were identified using online data. Then, we inferred what they're probably consuming in the different coal seams when they make methane. sfamjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
Microbes play a role in transforming coal to methane. Bronwyn Campbell shows 4 taxa identified via metagenomics, with genetic potential for metabolising complex carbon in coal. Implications for industrial methane stimulation and bioremediation of organic pollutants #MicroSeq2023
