"Don’t do the easy wrong; do the hard right. You have to go against your nature. It’s not in everybody’s nature to get up every morning & work. When we don’t have a challenge, we are not our best. That’s what drives us." -Geno Auriemma 📽️What Drives Winning

"I want to see you practice. Anybody can put together a highlight tape. I want to see you practice because how you practice is who you are." COACH PRIME Habits, not highlights, set the greats apart. It's what you repeatedly do-not occasionally do-that makes you exceptional.

Kids have to learn to dig deep, struggle & fight their way out of adversity. You can pay to put them on every kind of competitive team, get them a trainer/equipment/extra practice, but if they can’t claw their way past troubles that WILL come, they’ll never develop as athletes!

Players have to be taught to deal with the stresses & emotions of their sport. A college coach shouldn’t be the first person to teach them discipline, tell them they need to work harder or hold them accountable. Kids who aren’t equipped will crumble & fall when their truth hits!

Let your kids be coached. Let them get used to coaches holding them accountable. If you save your children from discomfort & hardship, you often keep them from realizing their own strength, abilities. Let them grow their character so they can become confident, independent adults!

The #1 skill missing from today’s athlete is mental toughness. Refusing to hold oneself accountable to individual and team goals. Blaming others for circumstances. Not fighting through adversity. Pouting and poor body language. Physical skill can only take you so far. Get tough!

2 types of coaches: Those who: Coddle Tell you what you want to hear Don’t hold you accountable Don't believe in you Let you go through the motions Those who: Tell you the truth Encourage Challenge Hold you accountable Inspire Demand excellence ONLY 1 gets you ready for LIFE!

"We don't do that in our program." "That's not good enough." "We need more from you." "We're better than that." "You've got to step up." "This can't happen." When your athletes say these things to their teammates, you've got: - GREAT LEADERSHIP - FULL ACCOUNTABILITY #CultureWins

Keep it real with folks. That doesn’t mean doing whatever and going off the handle. That means having difficult conversations & addressing ➕ & ➖. Create a culture of accountability & you’re already doing others a solid. They’ll come to appreciate it because they know you care.

Stop blaming the teacher if your child isn’t a fan of math. Mastering math almost always requires extensive practice and developing confidence takes time. The issue often lies NOT with the teacher, but with the need for perseverance and grit.

If your teammate is having a bad day , bad practice or bad game , you should have an unspoken and not required RESPECT for that person to help them through it. Ignoring it, moving away from it, expecting someone else to handle it , is not the answer. Leadership is not a title!
