Dear @iaindale. You do realise that Alex Salmond and his Alba party gained half a percent, that's 0.5%, that's less then 12,000 votes for the whole party and lost every deposit. Why would you let him explain Scotland to your listeners when he demonstrably speaks for no-one?

BBC Scotland has been reporting for two days that Anas Sarwar has called for the two child cap to be scrapped. This reporter ends her piece by saying he isn't calling for it to be scrapped right now. He isn't calling for it to be scrapped then. Stop lying.

My statement on the sudden passing of former First Minister Alex Salmond.

Alex Salmond was a huge figure in our politics. While I disagreed with him on the constitutional question, there was no denying his skill in debate or his passion for politics. May he rest in peace.

Desperately sad news about Alex Salmond. Regardless of your thoughts on his politics, he was a proud, passionate Scot (and in my very, very limited experience of him a warm and gregarious character). A sad day.

I am deeply shocked and saddened at the untimely death of the former First Minister Alex Salmond and I extend my deepest condolences to Alex’s wife Moira and to his family. (1/3)

Alex worked tirelessly and fought fearlessly for the country that he loved and for her Independence. He took the Scottish National Party from the fringes of Scottish politics into Government and led Scotland so close to becoming an Independent country. (2/3)
