Chaz Thompson from Snakes 'N' Adders Snakes’N’Adders provided us with a REPTA update regarding legislation, pushing for and maintaining higher standards around exotic animal movement and welfare within the reptile sector. Education is vital for raising the awareness bar for welfare.

Graínne Hartigan explained how the process of cryopreservation is banking species genetics for the future, and why reptiles require a unique approach due to their distinct physiology, environmental parameters impacting timeframes, and contamination risks to unique groups.🧬

Francis Cosquieri delivered the last presentation of the conference, sharing his expertise in the acclimation of snakes into captive care within new environments. Animals undergo various levels of stress during the process and can be susceptible to unseen diseases. 🐍

There are many colourful and diverse anuran species in the wild. Here in Britain we have some beautiful frogs and toads, including the Common Frog (Rana temporia), that despite being less colourful in appearance are just as special in character and native to our wild isles. 🐸
