For Question Everything's 2nd episode, I put four journalists in a room, gave them drinks, and started rolling tape. I wanted to create an environment where journalists can talk candidly about the challenges in our work. An anti-panel. See what came of it: youtube.com/watch?v=6UwGQ4…

We're about to send out our Question Everything newsletter. Gay graciously let us include her full response to hearing the episode, and we'll also share the part of our interview that we edited out that Gay wished was in. Subscribe here: kcrw.com/culture/shows/…

New story in this show. On the radio this weekend/podcast drops Sunday night. Been a bunch of financial struggle in public radio recently, so just want to say: If you like the work you hear on This American Life, give to your local public radio station - they need you.

Btw: Ep 1 of Question Everything is also on YouTube (I love the animations, they bring me back to the Wayne’s World public access-era or something…) youtu.be/rlK1kZ-zE5o

The war between facts and non-facts is something we'll be getting into more on Question Everything -- including in the next couple of episodes. Check out the full video of this conversation with Ira Glass here: youtube.com/watch?v=6UwGQ4…

Interesting fact of the morning, which I just learned from our fact checker as she’s working on next week’s episode: Apparently, no US officers have held the rank of 5-star general since the death of the last one in 1981.

This program (in my day it was called an internship; now it's a fellowship) is how I learned to make narrative audio and so much else. It changed my life and career. Apply!

I want to throw myself out of a window when I read old reporter's memoirs from WWII because they're like "I was a high school dropout in rural Mississippi when I walked into my local newspaper and they asked 'How'd ya like to go to Paris, kid?' And so began my 80-year career."
