6:30 AM - Light to moderate rain continues for the Triad and points east. Grab the rain gear, and take it slow on the roads. Lots of accidents out there this morning. Rain may become more spotty this afternoon, but it's a damp and gloomy day overall. #NCwx

THURSDAY: Starts wet, especially for the Triad. Rain will hopefully become more patchy/misty this afternoon, but we may be in this gloomy, damp pattern all day long. Temps mainly in the 60s, maybe low 70s later. Have the rain gear, and take it slow on wet roads.

Tropical Storm Dexter is beginning to transition into a strong extratropical low. Winds are expected to increase and may reach hurricane strength even after the storm loses tropical characteristics. Dexter is expected to avoid land. wxii12.com/weather

A weak area of low pressure drifting off the Carolina coast has not developed very much this week. Some slow tropical development is possible this weekend, but the system should remain too far offshore to be impactful to the United States. wxii12.com/weather

A tropical wave over the eastern Atlantic remains a mass of disorganized showers and storms. It's expected to move into an environment that will be more favorable for development this weekend. A tropical depression may form by early next week. wxii12.com/weather

Tropical researchers at Colorado State University released their final 2025 Atlantic hurricane season forecast. The experts expect an above-average season with 16 named storms, including eight hurricanes. Three hurricanes are expected to become major. wxii12.com/weather

The possibility of tropical development is decreasing for the weak area of low pressure that has drifted further off the Carolina Coast. It has limited potential to develop but even if it were to form, the storm would be too far to have any major impacts to the U.S #nc #tropics

NOAA updated its 2025 Atlantic seasonal prediction on Thursday. Conditions in the Atlantic continue to favor an above average season. However, NOAA did slightly lower the projected number of named storms, hurricanes, and major hurricanes this season. wxii12.com/weather
