I'll tell you something: the incompetence of Columbia's administration has created all sorts of headaches for administrators elsewhere. Most of them are probably hoping to just get to the end of the semester.

My uncle Lewis got arrested at Columbia in 1968 and expelled … later he ended up being a Columbia professor.

One thing that will be very interesting to find out is what % of the people in the building were students.

I realize I am not part of Columbia. I realize that campus situations are usually more nuanced that they appear in the news. That said, I am hard-pressed to think of any university president who has handled things worse than Minouche Shafik.

If people are peacefully protesting, not blocking access to anything, they have a First Amendment right to do so.

Comparing past few weeks to the civil rights movement is insulting to that struggle and not factual.

Generally speaking, this should be every university's across-the-board policy. Had it been this way before this year, they'd really have had few/no problems.
