Not being confessional and being infatuated with the past prior to the reformation (like Matthew Barrett) leads to embracing those pre-reformation errors. Not being confessional and ignorant of the past leads to embracing modernity that repeats serious errors of the past.

This was a really good book! I’ve read a lot of books on hermeneutics with Christ as the scope of Scripture (a redemptive-historic reading). But this book instructs us how to interpret Scripture according to the orthodox doctrines of the Trinity and Christ.

We were richly blessed by Covenant Grace Church in Syracuse, UT where Darren Colwell pastors! It’s a growing congregation that is hungry for the word! Pastor Ben assured the congregation as he exhorted them towards obedience that they were not under the covenant of works! 👊

One issue is what is the responsibility of the church who has the keys and what is the responsibility of the government who has the sword? The church judges those *inside* and not outside the church (1 Cor. 5) while evangelizing the lost and not coercing by the sword (Acts 17).

Who remembers these? This is just outside the east gate of Yellowstone

If you spend a fair amount of time in pastoral ministry, you'll learn that people strongly tend to choose relationships over truth. Praise God for those rare gems who stand on truth at the cost of relationships.
