Missing confounder data are ubiquitous in studies relying on EHRs, yet routine diagnostics to check assumptions about downstream analytic choices are seldom implemented We built an R package to help out- smdi academic.oup.com/jamiaopen/arti… Give it a spin. Let us know what you think!

NIH grant-writing tip #324: section headers should be this clear and declarative 👇. Don't make reviewers wade through a wall of text to figure out your point...they're probably tired, cranky, and under-caffeinated.

Excellent writeup by Calli McMurray , with this quote from Gretchen Bandoli I agree with 100%: "You can repeat the same biased thing over and over again, and you’ll keep getting the same biased association." thetransmitter.org/spectrum/aceta…

A periodic reminder that likes are not endorsements. Especially so for me because for who knows how long somehow I've been accidentally liking every random tweet I see?!?!? Has this happened to anyone else?

Woot! My enthusiasm is only slightly dampened by a reminder from the provost that basically with great power comes great responsibility. In other words, I foresee a lot more committee work in the near future...

Re: our study of acetaminophen use during pregnancy and child autism, ADHD, and intellectual disability in JAMA, we have a letter out today in response to some comments. We previously have raised many of these comments here: thetransmitter.org/wp-content/upl…

Yesterday I had a zoom meeting re: traumatic brain injury data that prematurely ended because my toddler ran full-speed face first into a mirror. 🙄 (He's ok fortunately)

Thrilled that our bias amplification paper has received honorary recognition as one of the best papers of 2023 by International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology #epitwitter Link: doi.org/10.1002/pds.56… TL;DR: Stratifying based on indication is not a good strategy to mitigate confounding by indication.
