“We will be a great league that has two teams from New York City.” In which borough will they play sir? “None. They will play in New Jersey. And approximately 45% of their games will be on national television.” Wow, these two teams must win very often sir. “Almost never.”

What people are missing with this “ don’t look at the early vote” narrative is that the early vote trends are confirmed by trends in registration, polling, and demographic turnout. It all looks deep red.

I suspect we will look back on the Teamsters straw vote that tilted heavily towards Trump and the union’s decision not to endorse as a big sign for this election. It’s the culmination of a multi-cycle process of realignment. It took a while for the lunchpail crowd to realize it

Make it make sense. Whenever you try to put together the reality puzzle, you end up with a gap-toothed Mona Lisa and a coupla pieces on the floor…

Lagging badly in early voting, the Democrats desperately need to motivate their supporters to get out and vote on Tuesday. It’s critical that all Democrats rally to the polls so that they can defend and support… wait for it… Liz Cheney. See it now?

Imagine if the two big stories heading into Election Day were Trump riding on a garbage truck and the Democrats defending Liz Cheney b/c Trump said she should go fight in the wars she likes to start. #PerfectFraming #4dChess

Steady stream of Trump ads the last couple days on the Boston area networks, which I’ve not seen previously. They either just have money to burn at this point, or they think New Hampshire is close.

Brian McCarthy (@briangobosox) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I don’t see the logic behind these ads either. They’re equating voting for Harris with embarrassment and shame. Do they perceive a social herding towards Trump taking place that they are trying to counter? It doesn’t seem positive for Harris. Can anyone explain this to me?

I’ve been going here since the mid 70’s. Dave gave it a 7.9 but it’s 8+ in my book. Fantastic south shore bar pie. Only a 5-10 minute detour if you’re ever making your way out to Cape Cod from NY, NJ, CT or the suburbs southwest of Boston.

Philadelphia county has returned 188,586 fewer mail ballots than in 2020 2020 Election Day turnout was 317,280, so a 50% increase would be an additional 185,640 votes. So a 50% turnout increase across the entire county is the breakeven level for Democrats.

Another way to look at this: Trump can use his SALT cap leverage to get the R “purple district” caucus in the house to do whatever else he wants on the bill.

I second this. I referenced Halperin repeatedly in client notes recently. An honest-to-goodness "down the middle" political news product that was telling it like it turned out to be. Quite a journey for Halperin from HBO's "the Circus" (with that clown John Heilemann) to this

Rescinding these seems like an easy "pay for" in any reconciliation tax bill. "there are tax credits for individuals and businesses for investing in clean energy projects that could amount to as much as $1.2 trillion over the law's 10-year lifespan." axios.com/2024/10/28/tru…

Yeah, so this is the OPPOSITE of stimulus: Fin Min Lan said at that over the next 5 years local govts will be able to use an additional Y4t of special-purpose bonds—originally issued mainly for infrastructure projects—to replace off-the-books debt. wsj.com/world/china/ch…

Brian McCarthy (@briangobosox) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Have to admit I was wrong on this one. The stimulus package is even weaker than I thought! To the extent they're repurposing local debt proceeds from infrastructure to debt swaps, the end result here might even be NEGATIVE STIMULUS! 😂
