This brilliant boy of mine has spent two years growing his hair. He was regularly mistaken for a girl and teased mercilessly but he shrugged it off because he had a plan. Yesterday he chopped it off to give to Little Princess Trust so it could be used to make a wig for a child with cancer.

Superb BBC documentary on Haut de la Garenne child abuse scandal tonight. Watch it on iPlayer if you can. I met Stuart Syvret in Jersey at the time. A brave man stitched up by those in power, as were police who put investigating abuse ahead of the island’s image. Now vindicated.
