You can hear the picket lines for Indiana Grad Workers Coalition all the way from Myers Hall. Keep giving them hell! Grad workers united can never be divided!!! #IUonStrike22

Justin Hicks There already WAS a task force, in 2019, and that task force found that the graduate student stipends were harming recruitment, retention, and morale. drive.google.com/file/d/1m6ffgS…

Beautiful bioluminescent Vibrios as part of the "Illuminating Science-Interspecies Quorum Sensing Signaling" experiment the Julia van Kessel lab is doing with teachers across Indiana who are participating in the IU Biology Summer Institute! IU Biology Outreach 🦠

The Biology Summer Institute is almost over! It's been fun creating modules to teach about epidemiology, motility/signaling, and ice nucleation. Great job by our high school teachers Catherine and Lynn and grad student leaders Brittany Herrin and Olivia Schakel! Thanks IU Biology Outreach!

I love the beautiful microscopy work from Jiwasmika Baishya in this paper: frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…! It is cool to see how calprotectin protein physically interacts with biofilms. And thanks to Kendra Rumbaugh for enabling us to visualize this interaction in murine chronic wounds!

Grad student Ella Chuang talks about her work on adenine cross-feeding. Thanks to Julia van Kessel for the photo. We are all excited for her back in Bloomington. Ella is one of MANY IU Biology students presenting their excellent work at #Phages2022.

What an amazing conference! Gordon Research Conferences Microbial Basis of C1 Metabolism was an amazing experience to present, discuss and connect with an awesome community!

Grad student Olivia Schakel gives a great talk on cross-feeding conditions that support gene loss, today at #ISME18 in Lausanne. 4/4 grad students presented talks or posters this Summer!

First tweet, First talk, First in-person conference! Had a great time talking about how spatial structure stabilizes our model cross-feeding community!Thank you #ISME18 and McKinlay Lab

Thanks Marjon de Vos and Alvaro Sanchez Lab for Jake McKinlay's opportunity to present on recipient-driven cross-feeding and evolutionary influences of public adenine at #ISME18. Many lab members and collaborators contributed data to this talk.

FINALLY for Bloomington Pride I relaunched a Niche for Everyone shirt! This time proceeds will be split between the The Trevor Project & a local group that supports queer youth in Bloomington IN! The minimum to print is 48 shirts! #LGBTQIA #LGBTinSTEM 🌈🏳️🌈 customink.com/g/duk0-00cc-9y…

At IU Biology Micro retreat, we are honored to host Beronda Montgomery as our keynote speaker; a former IU postdoc and now amazingly accomplished scientist, admin, role model.
