Today’s reel: summer at the Breukelen Bridge

A weekend full of Dutch history in New York City! The New York Quadricentennial Committee and the Consulate General hosted a family and friends picnic on Governors Island to commemorate the arrival of the Dutch 400 years ago and the founding of New Amsterdam.

Meanwhile, in Brooklyn, Historic House Trust of New York City organized a Dutch-American Historic House shuttle tour. Participants visited four historic sites for crafts and activities.

Two years ago, Brooklyn journalist Ben Brachfeld wrote a wonderful article for the Brooklyn Paper about the renovation of the Original Brooklyn Bridge. Today, he visited Breukelen in person and toured all the highlights of the Vecht area.
