With the cooler temps and higher humidity we have been having, conditions are more favorable for disease in corn. One that has showed up recently in some fields is Northern Corn Leaf Blight.

I’m in Northern Iowa today visiting family and it’s almost a 30 degree’s temperature difference from back home. Amazing what the thick snowpack can do.

We are seeing Northern Corn Rootworm causing root lodging in non-RW traited corn (Conventional, AM, or VT2P) on rotated ground. These rootworm have extended diapause and they waited 2 years to hatch. Solution is to use Qrome or Vorceed trait on rotated fields. Pioneer Seeds U.S.

Severe weather risk tonight. We hope nobody gets severe weather tonight but if we do, it will likely expose more fields affected by rootworms. #corn #rootworm #extendeddiapause

A beautiful October 14th to be out in the field. Wait, it’s only September 14. ➡️ Go check your corn, please! Some fields are not going to withstand much wind and need prioritized for harvest ASAP! Read: go.iastate.edu/F6JOYL go.iastate.edu/TEQXDL

I made a bit of a crop tour yesterday. I was able to find tar spot in Yellow Medicine, Chippewa, and Lac Qui Parle counties in Minnesota. Super light incidence but it’s out there. #tarspot
