On Friday, Stephanie Rangel Santos became the first in her family to graduate from college. Her parents, who live in Mexico, watched her receive her bachelor’s in mass comm via Brenau’s livestream. “My parents are proud of me. My mom is proud of me, she knows what I have done.”

Brenau graduated its first MS in PA Studies cohort. James Cutts said he felt a wave of excitement & gratitude. “I don’t have the words for it. It’s a major milestone for all of us... I feel great. I really appreciate Brenau for the great experience. I enjoyed everything.”

It was a joyful celebration of students and their hard work. It was also an honor to recognize their family, friends and other loved ones, as well as our fantastic faculty and staff who have helped them all along the way to get to this important milestone.

“My mother inspired me to be a nurse. She’s a Brenau graduate,” Ryan Wint said while standing with his mom after Saturday's commencement. “I hope to be an ER nurse and eventually go to CRNA.”

“I’ll miss the community aspect,” said Katherine, who received her bachelor’s in exercise science. “It has become a second home, and I can feel myself and feel free here in a way. I’m going to miss that, especially going into a different space completely. Here is home.”

Juneteenth marks our country’s 2nd independence day as it celebrates the day in 1865 when Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger issued an order informing slaves in Texas they were freed – nearly six months after Congress had passed the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery.

Congrats to our Brenau Scholars & Brenau Dreams Scholarship recipients! We are so inspired by all they have accomplished- in school and their personal lives. Over the next few months, we'll spotlight these scholarship recipients and share a glimpse into their lives. Stay tuned!

June’s ROAR was such a blast! Over 100 students and their families joined us for an action-packed weekend of registering for classes, sparking new friendships and learning what life is like at Brenau. We can’t wait to see y’all this fall!

Today we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives 22 years ago during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. To honor those who continue to serve the U.S. we invited the Brenau community to write notes of encouragement for first responders & active duty U.S. military members.
