The Deputy Minister for Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage,Hon C Sanyatwe (MP) on Friday led the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of Chirinda Police Station. This is a community led initiative, spearheaded by Chirinda Development Trust.

In her speech, She applauded the Chirinda Development Trust for prioritizing the security of the community by partnering with the Government of Zimbabwe in ensuring that police services are closer to the people.This indeed is a demonstration that ,Nyika inovakwa neVene Vayo.

As a resident centered trust,Chirinda Development Trust saw the importance of security as a prerequisite to the development of the community and hence the construction of the police station.This clearly demonstrates the community's desire for a safe environment.

The construction of the police station comes at a time when it is strategic that as a country,we safeguard our borders.Currently,the country is grappling with drug trafficking , money laundering and smuggling as syndicates take advantage of our porous borders.

The Construction of the Chirinda Police Station will thus enhance security at Mt Selinda Border Post,thereby ensuring the safety of the community and the country at large, hence the name of the police station,CHIRINDA,a watching post.The Herald Zimbabwe Hon.
