Cameron Dietz had a great post recently about the importance of intent in med ball work, and I couldn’t agree more. Med balls throws build general power qualities in different planes, but are still far more general than sport specific - as is almost everything in the weight room.
“Sport-specific training” is an overused concept. Train qualities that will help express skill on the field. Producing force laterally - and using a low-level plyo to increase output - is a very useful quality for infielders. Michael Braswell and David Hogg II with some great examples
