Prior Authorization Coming to Traditional Medicare Starting in 2026 kiplinger.com/retirement/med… It's working so well in HMOs that it's being applied to all Medicare beneficiaries. Project 2025 wants Medicare HMOs for all. Politicians offload the rationing to insurance execs.

Cost of an emergency room visit for a dental emergency. Actually sounds pretty low given the way hospitals have carte blanche to charge whatever they want. instagram.com/reel/DLldBzYvo…

Great legal analysis by an experienced immigration attorney. Even Green Card holders working on legal state marijuana farm will be considered drug traffickers under federal law. instagram.com/reel/DL-vCIZJQ…

And humanity prevails (for now). Even with AI's rise, some academic tasks stay uniquely human: • Original fieldwork • Lived experience insights • Novel theoretical frameworks • Perspectives that challenge assumptions

How to adapt (Part 1) → Use AI as your intellectual sparring partner The most productive sessions aren't when I ask it to write for me But when I ask it to disagree with me. Immediate challenge > waiting months for reviewer comments. Real productivity flex.

How to adapt (Part 2) → Focus on what can't be digitized • Your physical presence in the field • Relationships with subjects • Direct observations Screw the idea of synthetic users! Generate some internal knowledge that isn't in AI training data (yet).

Relevance to physicians: Those still in private and direct practice have no voice at the White House, CMS or MEDPAC. Please don’t say the AMA is looking out for doctors + patients. They’re busy measuring burnout and prior authorization. Got your Gold Card? instagram.com/reel/DJShhLXsx…

Politicians and administrators love the term “vertical integration.” When hospital systems and insurers consolidate services—imaging, surgery, rehab, and follow-up—it’s called innovation. They claim it streamlines care, reduces fragmentation, and boosts efficiency. Regulators

themirror.com/sport/basketba… Anyone else tired of billionaire owners and multi-millionaire spoiled players? NBA/ pro basketball is boring. Too much time wasted watching it and too expensive.

BTW of history, in 1989 then HHS Secty Louis Sullivan, MD told an AMA meeting " Marcus Welby is dead." It was a subtle warning to get in line with the forces of managed care that were claiming to treat patients better than the kindly family doctor at lower costs.
