If you think it's so immaterial, maybe call a few seniors in nursing homes and explain to them where they'll go next. Call the mom of a kid with disabilities who won't be able to pay for a new wheelchair. Call just one person whose life you're going to tear apart.

The fun thing about running young folks in elections is that yeah, what you did in high school (in a given context and era) is actually on the table! Both “sides” are valid. We should move on, but not be obtuse.

The way folks talk about older black voters as some racial relic of a demographic that one doesn’t have to actually engage, rendered invisible in their agency and power as a base, will never sit right with me.

Can someone write or point me to a long form piece on the proliferation of bag charms in recent years? I’m genuinely fascinated by the move towards purse ornamentation as like, late stage conspicuous consumption or something? 🤪

In my experience, what some call “socially conservative” is actually just a kind of wisdom that comes from weariness and wariness. You may not be attuned to it. And no one genuinely wants to understand that posture, or why it results in pragmatism.
