Started reading a translation of Brother Lawrence's (pub in 1692) book "Practice of the Presence." Carmen Acevedo Butcher, a scholar of medieval texts, completed the translation. Made me recognize my need to be more attentive, which led me to create a simple, attention manifesto.

Operate out of an attitude of abundance, not scarcity. A scarcity mentality fosters hoarding, stinginess, jealousy and fear of loss. Believe there is plenty for everyone. Be generous. Be open-handed. Welcome competition. Lift others up. #DailyReminder

You know you are in an echo chamber when: * It's considered unpopular, weak or even immoral to change your mind. * Isolation from contrary facts or opinions is celebrated as an admirable trait. * Calm conversations that touch a nerve often become heated debates. ~ Seth Godin

Here's a stat that I can't stop thinking about: Among 70 year olds: 20% of women say they are currently widowed. It's 5% of men of the same age. Among 80 year olds: >40% of women are widows 15% of men are widows.

Everything is possible for those who believe, even more for those who hope, still more for those who love, and most of all for those who practice and persevere in these three powerful paths. ~ Brother Lawrence

Weekly reminder: "When the Church tries to embody the rule of God in the forms of earthly power it may achieve that power, but it is no longer a sign of the kingdom." ~ Lesslie Newbigin #church #kingdom

We must move from a reduced view of #Christology to a more robust view of the person, work & WAYS of Jesus. Christology should inform our #Missiology but only if our Christology is fully formed. Whatever the question, the answer is always more #discipleship in the ways of Jesus.

"Either/or thinking is seductive because it simplifies decision-making, but it also oversimplifies reality. In our rush to make choices, we often miss the nuances that could lead to better solutions." #dualism ~ "Both/And Thinking" by Wendy K. Smith & Marianne Lewis

"Dualistic thinking creates unnecessary conflict. By framing problems as either/or choices, we inadvertently pit opposing ideas against each other, creating false dichotomies." #dualism ~ "Both/And Thinking" by Wendy K. Smith & Marianne Lewis
