2 days uptime after switching from Wayland to X11. Seems my suspicion that Wayland was the issue was correct. Which is a shame, since I really wanted to use it.

Looking at intel CPU prices, its rather insane that the 285k is double the price of the 265k... Its 4 more cores and 200 mhz... Sure its better, I don't think its worth 2x the price though.

The most unusual interactions with a PM was them coming to me and asking if the unit tests passed. I responded yes, but I had written them as well... They just repeated "Did they pass" so I said yes and then went on their way. Not sure what they did with that information.

With all the money spent on renewables, the huge amounts of solar, the more efficient devices and lowered usage we are only ever increasingly gouged in Australia on power. From the country with unlimited sun, wind, 30% of the worlds uranium and enough coal to last 10,000 years.

Its a very small thing, but I really detest when people say they "did X" when talking about visiting somewhere. "I did Paris" "Did you do London?". Its so off-putting.

Honestly one of the worst things about cloud compute is how long it takes to deploy anything. I really do miss how instantly PHP and FTP was. Heck even SCP with a single binary you restart feels nice too.

Seems the spammers have figured out github... github.com/boyter/scc/iss… never seen spam like this before. Is this a new thing or have I managed to dodge it till now?

energymadeeasy.gov.au seriously what is the point of government websites like this for comparing energy prices when none of the data is accurate.

If the leak here is true videocardz.com/newz/intels-ne… then looks like I finally have a CPU I want to upgrade my 4790k to.

Microsoft similar to OS's applications I use to access work things... are not really something I recommend to others in casual conversation... not if I ever want to talk to them again anyway.

Having resolved the annoying edge case in searchcode.com that crashed it I can now look at long term stats, where it seems it is running about 20 search requests per second these days, with bursts and has done 100 million searches in the last month.

This is fine. Although I suspect its being called a "bomb cyclone" to avoid insurance payments somehow. We shall see how Sydney fares tonight.

I have a PR checker for github that labels the size/complexity compared to other PRs. You can see an example here github.com/boyter/scc/pul… Should I go through the effort of making a Org account to allow others to use this?

Not only is boyter's scc a great tool for counting lines of code, but it also values my work more than anyone ever will. $22,607 for a two-file Go package! That's why I appreciate it so much :)

I try to stay out of politics online but the current Australian government has gone insane news.com.au/technology/onl… they might was well go full 1984 and give us an internet license at this point.

Seems to be a massive push to verify everyone’s identify on the internet in the last month or so. I’m sure this will go well.

OpenAI and others keep telling us how AI is going to replace us, especially coders. Then offers massive bonuses to their developers to stay.
