Some personal updates: I joined OpenAI a few months ago, working on all things robustness/safety/privacy.

Also, we are working to publish more of our safety work. See my first project here below, where we make initial progress on prompt injections and other attacks!

Happy to share our recent EACL 2024 paper . Unlike LDA, BERTopic, Contextualized topic model... that generate a list of abstract keywords for each topic: TENOR leverages topic models with user-centered topic generation and document analysis with minimal user effort.

Build what you need and use what you build. This is a core philosophy of my research. It shifts the focus away from publishing “papers” to what really matters — impact. This thread unpacks why I think this is a successful approach to science. 1/10 Or see:

i know this is schmidhuber-y, but i just stumbled upon my slide from February 2023 detailing the 'many-shot jailbreaking' attack popular earlier this month. the lag between broad praxis and arxiv/whitepaper is tremendous.

Many AI safety methods rely on AIs to provide oversight and supervision. The fact that models are interacting with one another alone should be a safety concern. We provide some initial evidence to support this intuition. More to follow soon!

Researchers often have to ask for recommendation letters for visa/job applications, etc.

I wrote a script that allows you to find who cites your papers frequently to create a list of potential letter writers: github.com/neubig/researc…

Hope it's helpful, improvements are welcome!
