20 years since this field that’s in quite an arable weighted crop rotation last saw the hooves of a ruminant. Essentially due to being the one outlying field on the farm that’s on the other side of a busy main road. Thanks to a tempting looking bit of silage aftermath we’ve made

No early harvest here… Wheels haven’t even turned yet! October drilled wheat has only just come ripe in the past couple of days and typically the weather has now turned 🌧️☔️. Not rushing to cut wet grain this year and watch all of our profits burned away in a grain dryer so

Summer cover crops have been incredible this year! Just need to figure out how to destroy them effectively now, as there is an unreal amount of biomass to take care of!🌻🐝

A 2:00am start yesterday for a trip up to Longtown. Brought 133 Cheviot mule gimmers back to Herefordshire which we shall be contract managing for a nearby farm, as well as 42 ewe lambs that will join our flock in addition to a similar number of our home bred Scotch halfbred ewe

Wipers on, combine parked up. Due to crops being slow to ripen we’ve only cut 25 acres of wheat so far. Chanced it and had a go this morning, two laps of the field and the rain came. Never known a year as testing.

Diverse catch crop growing between agroforestry rows in a field surrounded by 10ft high hedges. Ready for wheat to be direct drilled into it in a couple of weeks time. Looking after our little corner of the world in the best ways we can!🌳🌾

What was a lovely drying morning was quickly ruined at lunch time, again... There goes any plans to try and cut any more wheat for a while. If you go outside now you can see your breath it’s that cold! What a stinker of a summer we’re having.

Knocking down the catch crop between apple trees. There’s a lot of grass regrowth beneath the catch crop so making sure we expose it all for a good spray off in the coming weeks!
