We recently said goodbye to our HS&E Manager Tony... 💔 But he wasn't gone long - he came back for a few days to train our new HS&E Manager, Kevin Tony then worked his final underground shift on Wednesday - resulting in a proper mine sign-off and this week's #PhotoOfTheWeek 📸 pic.x.com/lcbco48kzs
We had the pleasure of hosting BBC The Sky at Night earlier this week, marking our lab's second appearance on #TheSkyAtNight! 🌙⭐ It's been 20 years since the show last came to Boulby Lab - and suffice to say, a lot has changed! #Astronomy #SpaceExploration #Science pic.x.com/efmbehyzcy
Sharing the incredible science that we host is one of our core missions, and so far in 2024 we have engaged with over 5,000 people! 🌎📣 The latter half of the year will be no different - we're going to be at #HarwellOpenWeek at the end of June... Come say hi! ☺️ Science and Technology Facilities Council
The lab has certainly changed a lot in 20 years! 😅 Thank you BBC The Sky at Night for catching up with us 😊
We had a great time hosting 8 STEM-curious scholars from SanfordLab this week! 🧪🧬 2024's Davis-Bahcall Scholars visited us 1.1km underground on their tour of the world's great science hubs... We hope everyone had a great time and now know a little more than when they arrived pic.x.com/06nwwfoalv
This #ThrowbackThursday we recount last month when we opened our doors to schools. As part of Harwell Open Week, we held outreach events for students. Alongside other UK Research and Innovation research, students gained insight as to dark matter with our Boulby Underground Laboratory display.
UK researchers also co-led LZ's excellent radio-screening campaign, much of which happened at Boulby Underground Laboratory! Managed to get 0.038% closer to the core-mantle boundary today - going 1100 m underground. What an experience! Fascinating environment and amazing facilities - many thanks Boulby Underground Laboratory for facilitating and hosting!
