The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative cross-country learning from three countries’ experiences (🇰🇪,🇳🇬,🇸🇩 ) in patient access to NTD health products has energized the co-creation of actionable roadmaps to improve national procurement systems for #NTDs & essential medicines.

The current diagnosis for #mycetoma is a multi-step & lengthy procedure. Concerned partners are coming together to develop better diagnostic tools. Treatment is also suboptimal & most endemic countries have no national control programmes. #beatNTDs

Currently Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative & partners are undertaking epidemiological studies for #mycetoma in select endemic countries like Senegal & Ethiopia. The aim is to assess disease burden & contribute to the development of national control programmes. #beatNTDs

#Mycetoma is one of the 6 #NTDs prevalent in Turkana County, Kenya. The planned Mycetoma Global Surveillance Project to be conducted in 13 countries across the world will assist in understanding the epidemiology, estimate the burden, and improve diagnosis and treatment.

The impact of #mycetoma can be devastating. Our Head of Mycetoma Dr. Borna Nyaoke-Anoke visited Boru Meda in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 to meet with patients so that we can centre their needs: ✅ develop safe, affordable treatments ✅ prevent amputation and disability ✅ improve access for all

Currently attending a two-day Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative media training together with fellow colleagues. Stakeholder engagement is important in aligning communication efforts with the organizational goals. Demystifying complex information ensures effective communication of R&D. #InnovatingTogether

Meles Fentaw from 🇪🇹 was first diagnosed with #mycetoma when he was seven years old & has lived with the disease for over 20 years.
