Bestselling author Jason Reynolds’ new children’s book was inspired by a photo of people dancing in a library, celebrating Langston Hughes. He hopes the story encourages children to see the library as “a place for freedom.”

It was great to be with Book 'Em for their Passports of Possibilities Breakfast this morning. Reading really is a passport to possibility. Our administration is committed to early childhood literacy, and we're excited that Book 'Em is a part of Raising Readers Nashville.

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to join Book'em at their Annual Breakfast Celebration! I was able to hear many speakers, including Mayor Freddie O’Connell, detail how Book’em has impacted the lives of the kiddos of Nashville! Truly inspiring!

I had a great time helping out the Book'em tent at the Musician’s Corner a few weeks back! I feel honored to be connected with Book’em and their mission to promote a more literate Nashville.

What a great morning to be at Read Me Day at Cumberland Elementary School.Book'em debuted their new Book Bus today. The book will travel to events giving out books to children who may not otherwise have books of their own. #rif #reading #books

We had the best time at Cumberland Elementary where Book'em unveiled its new book bus serving Nashville-Davidson County. Community leaders came together to celebrate the bus and read to students. We are so proud to help fund this program through our work with Governor's Early Literacy Foundation!

I truly enjoy serving as a board member for Book'em! This morning we had a wonderful Read Me Day celebration at CumberlandMNPS, and unveiled Book ‘Em’s Bookmobile for the first time! Now Nashville can work on transit and literacy together!
