The POPNET academic workshop was a great success! We have exchanged results, ideas, and best practices concerning population-scale networks through pitch talks and planned a shared vision for the field. Looking forward to potential future meetings!

In the new preprint by Bokányi Eszter, Frank Takes, and Eelke Heemskerk, we investigate the multilayer social network structure of the entire Dutch population and its relation to socio-economic status (such as degree and closure across age and income groups). arxiv.org/abs/2211.15325

Great opportunity for computational social scientists in Zurich to study "how digitization affects people and society, especially problems that arise due to automated decision-making and algorithms" 🇨🇭🏔️👩‍🎓

New preprint 📜 Amenity complexity and urban locations of socio-economic mixing We combine urban mobility data with economic complexity ideas to show that amenity complexity, central location and socio-econ mixing are interrelated (in Budapest, HU). arxiv.org/abs/2212.07280

What does the social network structure of an entire country's population look like? Our new paper by Bokányi Eszter, Eelke Heemskerk and Frank Takes in Scientific Reports dissects the anatomy of the network of formal ties binding 17.2M individuals in The Netherlands. nature.com/articles/s4159…

In our new paper in Demography Journal we count all observable kinship relations in contemporary Sweden using register data. We use linked parent-child records to estimate counts of kin such as cousins, grandparents, and grandparents. doi.org/10.1215/007033… (open access)
