Feels like a bit of a now-or-never possession for Purdue’s offense. Down 14-0, but decent field position at the Purdue 38. Can’t let this thing get to three scores before halftime.

Purdue’s defense is losing at the point of attack and is struggling to tackle in space. That’s a really difficult combination to overcome.

Some boos pouring down as Purdue heads to the locker room down 42-0 at halftime. Total yardage: Notre Dame 390, Purdue 72. 278 yards on the ground for the Fighting Irish.

Sometimes, one has to report the bad news with the good. Purdue's 42-0 deficit ties a RAS "record" for the biggest first-half deficit. Purdue trailed Ohio State 42-0 at intermission on Nov. 2, 2013. The final of that one was 56-0.

Just saw the stat from the broadcast that Purdue has a -61 point differential in the first quarter since the start of 2023, worst in the nation. That’s… That’s a rough stat. Might have to talk about that on the next pod.

I re-watched the Purdue-Notre Dame game so you don’t have to. Tune into the next podcast later this week for my final thoughts, including on Purdue playing its starters until the final whistle. Yikes.

A fascinating tidbit about Purdue’s defense here: “According to TruMedia, Purdue has played man on 87.8% of its defensive snaps. Notre Dame has played at the second-highest rate. It's at 58.8%.”
