Anybody saying "oh but gunn's ego is hurt" or whatever guys, he's trying to make David understand why Superman is saying these lines, David is asking questions & Gunn is trying to explain to him what he wants out of him, THAT'S DIRECTING. In the end, David gets it, scene is done.

People saying "David is right" are misunderstanding what David is saying. He's not arguing with Gunn against the scene, he's saying he doesn't understand the intention of the scene, and that he needs Gunn to help him understand it.

I've read criticisms of James Gunn's choice of music for this scene. My two cents on the discussion: I think other musical genres wouldn't have had the same impact. What was chosen perfectly matches Mr. Terrific's relaxed, ingenious style. One of the coolest scenes in the film.
