This is a reminder to always be very nice to your colleagues involved w/ #DataCuration. They never get enough credit. I was reminded about this today by Ben Heavner. The image below is from #FraminghamHeartStudy. Variable MF74 w/ categories 0001-0007 codes cigarette smoking

Nice article in Bio-IT World (zpr.io/tAEfF) how Bristol-Myers Squibb used #Gen3 from @UChicagoCTDS and worked with BioTeam to build a data commons for their internal use. You too can build a #datacommons.

Today 2020-02-02 is a #palindrome day (ignoring punctuation) when written using the ISO 8601 format YYYYMMDD. It's the 47th day with this #symmetry in the last 1,000 years or so. See blog.sumymus.de/palindrome-day… for a nice summary and when the next ones are coming.

The #PandemicResponseCommons is bootstrapping a privacy preserving app (your location is not tracked nor is any identifying info collected) to identify #COVID19 hotspots. Please donate your data (covidstoplight.org). Maps will be posted as soon as the data is stat. sig.

In the category of problems that are simple to state, but hard to prove: Bloom & Sisask show arxiv.org/abs/2007.03528: If a list A is dense enough so that the sum of the reciprocals is infinite, then A contains infinitely many three-term arithmetic progressions. #Erdos conjecture

New Post: An Ode to Stable Interfaces, and Praise To Base R and R Core In which I run code I posted fourteen years ago: it works unaltered. That should be cherished, celebrated--and encouraged. We need more examples like this. dirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2021/03/2… #rstats #reproducibility
