Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018) is a moderately fun found footage horror joint. The last thirty minutes delivers some decent scares without reinventing anything. It was very nice to see some recognisable faces on the screen.

I spoke with Kiyoshi Kurosawa about Robert Bresson, elliptical endings, the increasing internationalism of Japanese cinema, and the ambiguities in defining a remake. It's one of the most rewarding conversations I've ever had with a filmmaker. screenanarchy.com/2025/07/cloud-…
