Schumer speaks: “It’s a good thing the bill failed in the House. And now it's time to go back to the bipartisan agreement, we came to”

And so much more fans wanted — like banning spec ticketing, refund requirements, and bans on deceptive marketing. Would have been the most comprehensive ticket reforms to pass Congress in nearly a decade!

🚨Fan Action Alert!🚨Write your Senator and tell them to support the TICKET Act and get rid of hidden fees and deceptive sale practices for good! sportsfans.org/latest-news/fa…

I am done letting private equity treat Pennsylvania hospitals like a piggybank they can empty out and smash on the floor. As a Commonwealth, it’s time for us to reform the way private equity has infected our health care system. Send a bill to my desk requiring pre-transaction

THIS. I cannot tolerate the hypocrisy of the religious right about predatory lending (and a million other things). It is so obviously corrupt, and accepting the way poor people are punished with bad credit and shady loans is the opposite of “Christian.”

"With another overwhelming bipartisan vote, the House of Representatives has reaffirmed what consumer advocates, artists, venues, and industry leaders all agree on: it’s time for transparency in ticketing..."

4th generation Arlingtonian here—we’re willing to consider it But only if y’all stop trying to use taxpayer money to pay for sports arenas. Arlingxandrians don’t seem to like that kind of thing very much 😌

Variety Quote: "There’s collateral damage, too. The more fans pay per ticket, the fewer shows they’ll attend." Except that’s not what’s actually happening according to, you know, actual data. hollywoodreporter.com/business/busin…

If I were trying to address violent crime in DC, I’d start with asking how there’s money for two stadiums but not more cops.

.Live Nation-Ticketmaster spent years complaining about "predatory scalpers" harming fans, artists, and venues to distract Congress and the public from the need for real reforms that would rein in their monopoly. The truth is that they were in bed with the scalpers all along.

John Breyault (@jammingecono) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ever wonder why Live Nation-Ticketmaster never cracked down on #ticketbots despite (literally) years of their lobbyists railing against "predatory resale" in Congress and statehouses around the country? The answer FTC found should surprise exactly no one.

It's time for Congress to finally step in & legislate. Passing the #TICKET Act (already passed by the House 409-15 and Senate Commerce Republicans) should be a no-brainer. Practically every stakeholder in the live event ecosystem has signalled support already. schakowsky.house.gov/media/press-re…

John Breyault (@jammingecono) 's Twitter Profile Photo

But that's not all. Sen. Marsha Blackburn's & Senator Ben Ray Luján MAIN Event Act would have brought Live Nation's years of anti-consumer collusion with ticket scalpers to light much sooner. It's passed out of Senate Commerce Republicans but is languishing in the House. Energy and Commerce Committee should act now.

No it has not! Consumers really don’t care about amateurism, and all the whining to Congress about the Wild West is just a power grab.
