Congratulations to our Year 8 boys, who had an incredible 8-1 victory over Aldworth, Basingstoke, in the 6th round of the ESFA National Cup. They have progressed further in the National Cup than any other Blatch team and are now through to the final 16. We wish them all the best!

During their Girls in STEM visit to Hove Park School, our Year 9 girls had the chance to participate in a range of workshops that offered hands-on experiences in physics, engineering, maths, and coding. They were all inspired by the opportunities available to them in science.

Our senior students are now looking very smart in their new gold-striped senior student ties. A special thanks goes to Miller, who managed to get these supplied free of charge by Khalsa Schoolwear!

Congratulations to our Year 8 trampoline squad, who were excellent at the first ever Brighton & Hove trampoline competition held at PACA last week. The whole team was exceptional, with Amber coming 1st, Gali, 2nd, and Orla, 4th. We look forward to the next competition!

It was fantastic to be able to mark our Year 11 mock exam results with a celebration assembly. We’re so proud of the work and effort that they have all put in so far, as they are already seeing the results!

Our year 11 students had the opportunity to visit Poetry Live! at the Brighton Dome. They heard from award-winning poets Imtiaz Dharker and Daljit Nagra, as well as Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, who read from his anthology.

The ‘Careers in Sport’ event at the Amex gave our Year 10 sports students a valuable insight into the opportunities available to them. Through interactive workshops in sports business, coaching, and media, the event highlighted all the careers available in the sports sector.

Our Year 11 art students got so much out of their trip to the Brighton Art Gallery & Museum, which helped to support their knowledge about artists, craftspeople, and designers while experiencing art outside the classroom. They had a great time researching for their portfolios.

Our World War One history trip to Belgium was an incredible experience. We got to witness battlefield sites and visit the nightly ‘Last Post’ ceremony at the Menin Gate Memorial, and our visit to the Tyne Cot Cemetery was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices that were made.

Our Year 10 Super Curricular students enjoyed two 45-minute sessions led by expert teachers at Roedean. They could choose from a range of topics, from the psychology of social change to life, the universe, and everything!

We had a wonderful time at our Year 7 Winter disco. It was organised by our fabulous senior students who are doing an incredible job of raising funds for their prom. We all had such a great time and saw some exceptional dance moves from staff and students alike!

Our Year 7s have been very creative in their history lessons. They have been bringing history to life by building model castles as part of their Norman Conquest topic, with one made out of wafer biscuits!

Congratulations to our Year 9 boys’ football team, who won 4-2 vs. Dorothy Stringer at the end of last term. It's shaping up to be a great season; well done to you all!

Congratulations to Mr Foster for completing the Brighton half marathon on Sunday. He ran in memory of our dearly missed friend and colleague Ms Crowcroft and raised an incredible amount of money for the Samaritans. We’re really proud of him; well done Mr Foster!

Well done to our Year 7 and Year 8 cross-country teams, who participated in a very muddy Sussex Schools Cross-Country Championships last week, where every runner was outstanding. Special congratulations go to Skye, who won her race; Florence, who came 4th; and Ben, who came 5th.

Thank you to ex-student Issy, who came back to Blatch last week to speak to our Year 10 students about her apprenticeship at the BBC and the other schemes that are available to them. It was wonderful to see how well she is doing, and to learn about her post-16 experience!

Our HPQ students enjoyed a trip to the University of Sussex library. After discussing debate principles and how to craft a compelling argument, students engaged in a courtroom discussion in which they argued for and against the morality of using Chat GPT in academic writing

We were thrilled to have so many local secondary schools join Blatch for the first ever Brighton & Hove Young Speakers Challenge! Students participated in a warm-up speaking activity and then started to plan ideas for their own spoken performance.
