417 plates per meal hour in April! That’s an 18% increase from last year. It’s not just a number. It’s a sign that more people are falling through the cracks and Blanchet House is doing everything we can to catch them.

We’re fighting to save a community program that works! The Old Town InReach Program (OTIP) connects people to shelter, recovery, health care, and more. Blanchet House and frontline orgs are urging the county to restore funding. Write a testimonial bit.ly/4jhV4lI

People ask, “What are the results of your services?” As if feeding, clothing, and sheltering someone isn’t enough. Ok, Meet Kevin. “I’m 12 years sober. This place kept me alive. Where would we be without places like this?” he said. Kevin’s employed and volunteers to give back.

Our services aren’t light, they’re raw and urgent. Our team carries people’s pain home in their hearts and minds. We cry in the stairwell. We take deep breaths before greeting a clothing donor at the door. We set aside worry for one person to meet the needs of the next.

Erik helped a man bandage a wound. This trust, built slowly, will lead to ending homelessness. At Blanchet, Peer Support Specialists like Erik are quietly saving lives. Peers walk beside people through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

This isn’t a farewell, it’s a moment to honor the incredible impact OTIP peers like Charitie (left) and Lexie have made in our community. The effective Old Town InReach Program will end June 27 due to a loss of funding from the county. Thank you to everyone who stood with us.

The guys picked cherries at Blanchet Farm with the help of volunteer Sunny. Blanchet Farm offers something rarely found in addiction recovery: a peaceful, working farm where men can heal through connection to nature, animals, meaningful work, and community.

Portland needs more overnight shelters now! We’ve all experienced the effects of one bad night of sleep. Imagine that stretched over weeks outside. A safe place to sleep for the night provides more than rest. None of us is very productive when we’re tired. bit.ly/3TAzChl

A message to supporters written on a boarded window. A few times a year, a café windows is smashed by someone in crisis. It’s a cost of offering aid to people experiencing the worst days of their lives—frustrated, hurting, and without options. Your support matters so much.

Today, we met an older woman newly homeless in Portland. Unlike the harmful stereotypes, she was sweet, clearly sober, and simply looking for a safe place to sleep and access resources. She said her memory was bad and asked us to walk with her to a day center. We got her a taxi.

We said goodbye to Sarah, the last member of the Old Town InReach Program. The program lost funding. Their absence is already felt. When someone needs a referral to shelter or detox we may not be able to help like we used to. It’s terrible to not be able to help people in crisis

Medicaid work requirements aren't doable when you in a residential recovery program. Without Medicaid, participants cannot access the health care services that make recovery possible. These aren’t quick-fix issues for an ER to solve. bit.ly/4lCJYcI

It took two years to get Bob G. housed—one year for disability benefits and another year waiting for supportive housing. He was living in his car before finding Blanchet House. With 22,000+ Oregonians unhoused, we need more housing, resources, and compassion.
