Does anyone have access to the Newspaper Archive? There seems to be a notice concerning the death of Frank Rainbow from 9th November 1917 in the Leamington Courier. He was one of 3 brothers from Leamington killed during the war.

I love this story of CSM Donnelly, 10th Durhams- he ‘deserted’ back to the frontline from a ‘bloody conscript battalion’

War Diary help required again! Second line- ‘new ? Hut well underway…’ the same word appears towards the end of the paragraph, ‘the half finished ?’

A foray into my family tree today- this is George A Randle who took part in the last Cavalry charge at Omdurman 1898- with B Squad 21 Lancers. Same regiment as Churchill, who was there. He is the uncle of the husband of my great aunt Mary Blanchard- who married William Randle.

I am looking for a higher resolution image of this photograph of the Olympic torch relay from 1936 passing through the Brandenburg Gate. And was is the significance of the S on the athlete’s vests?

Can anyone tell me why there is no stolperstein (stumbling stone) in Krausnickstrasse in Berlin for Regina Jonas the first woman to become a rabbi murdered in Auschwitz? There is a memorial on the street where she lived. Perhaps, there is a stolperstein elsewhere? Berlin Companion
