Odd ball out of left field this week. W11 upgrades and imaging was the focus. Got W11 upgrade from ~2 hours to ~35min via SCCM by using the image patched to April 2025. Also used OS builder to remove the bloatware.

Another odd ball this week.. W11 imaging via MDT our script stopped removing some of the built in apps. Ended up using OS builder powershell to remove those apps from the image and had our deployment guys verify and they were happy with the results.

After the SCCM W11 upgrade and the MDT W11 imaging was fixed. I worked on getting SCCM setup to take care of all the imaging and phase out MDT. Images are done ready to go.. passed off getting all the driver packs to lower level so I can get back to network migrations.

I feel like grok has had significant improvements made to it over the last week. I was using it to research regexes for syntax highlighting in rebex terminal. It took the time to explain it all and come up with the best solution. Amazed!

Finished the DC network migration last night. Ran into a couple minor issues with sfps. All was moved live without any shutdowns including storage. Powered down the old Nexus 93180s and 2 nexus 7707 chassis.

New gear is Cat 9500X-60L4D campus core. DC cores are Nexus 9332D-GX2Bs and top of racks are 93180YC-FX3s. Pretty awesome getting this all done. Was able to complete all this without any significant outages. 🔥

Ordered new router for home. Went with the dream router 7. This is replacing my old amplifi he’d.

Fixed an interesting issue today. Connectivity issues between backup clusters in prod and dr. The firewalls are connected to a set of leafs that didn’t have the vlan interface for the backup subnet. Added it on those leafs and suddenly bgp advertised the network correctly.

Why is it that developers don’t understand network latency and why it matters for their micro services / api code. We’ve spent millions only to have the shit run slower than when we started.

Last few weeks I’ve been digging into why our website is slow. Was asked to look at it as a side project from my director. Base off the changes in UAT and logs from production. The change should improve the sites performance by 3-5x. Which should get us by until we are done with

My son turned 9 today. My wife and I put in an extraordinary amount of work the last 2 days to get things cleaned up and have a family pool party. Needless to say’s it’s a smashing success.
