Let me break this down for you:

The Supreme Court is weighing criminalizing homelessnessβ€”that means if you’re sleeping outside, you will be arrested.

Approx. 40% of homeless people in the U.S. are Black.

This is not just about housingβ€”this is the prison industrial complex too.

This is awful and unnecessary. We have more than enough room for these folks, but yet, we still believe in housing schemes. When will we all realize that everyone should have adequate shelter, then the opportunity to expand their housing options?

It was great to start this by unveiling the MTA Maryland Earth Day bus. I'm so impressed by the incredible art submitted by young Maryland artists and can't wait to see the buses carrying riders!

Friends, please keep shining a light on Columbia & Yale and the criminalization of students there. But where is the outrage when this happens at @cuny & Brooklyn College-when working class students of color are criminalized instead of Ivy League students?thenation.com/article/societ…

The Supreme Court is hearing a case today that’s been decades in the making:

In Grants Pass, Oregon, the city made it illegal to sleep outsideβ€”a law targeting homeless people.

But there are NO homeless shelters in Grants Pass. So being homeless essentially becomes a crime.

So here’s a scenario you should keep in mind because I’ve seen it a number of times:

Landlord: we don’t allow pets.

Tenant: ok I have no pets.

Landlord: *checks bank statements and sees Petco charges*

You lied, application denied.

There are no accessible vans during a genocide.

There’s a young man named Khaled who has a disability and is attempting to evacuate Gaza. I’ve been tagged in videos no less than a thousand times and duetted it. He is not being allowed to evacuate for β€œwhatever reason.”

Homelessness is a policy choice. None of us have to be homeless. We’ve got empty apartments, homes and buildings everywhere. The people y’all voted for would rather pass legislation that makes homelessness illegal so they can throw you in jail and use you for prison labor.
