The fact that this is the second police commissioner to resign under suspicious or controversial circumstances within a single mayoral term raises tough questions about the Adams Administration’s ability to govern our city in a stable and trustworthy manner.

Shame on Columbia. These policies are antithetical to the very mission of higher ed and these institutions. The suppression of faculty and student expression is an affront to the purpose of the university as a site of learning and debate and a microcosm of democratic practice.

Let me get this straight: the NYPD opened fire on the subway yesterday in an attempt to stop a man who evaded the $2.90 fare (?), and in the process they ended up shooting him, 2 bystanders, and another cop? The caption accompanied by the community note below is *wild*.

The NYPD spent $150 Million *extra* last year to catch people who weren't able to afford to pay the subway fare. They owed just $104,000. $150 million could buy free fares (at going rate) for 95,000 poor New Yorkers per year. Instead four people shot, including an officer.
