A wonderful experience to be hosting the Anglican delegation for lunch Anglican Centre Rome ahead of going to St Peter’s Basilica to pray alongside the coffin of Pope Francis. anglicannews.org/news/2025/04/a…

Visiting the Ugandan Martyrs’ Memorial I bumped into James Luwum, son of the Archbishop commemorated as one of the C20th martyrs above the west door of Westminster Abbey and about whom I preached last year. Amazing. Last day in Uganda after a successful Alexandria Provincial Synod

Honoured to be asked to recite the Canticle of Creation in the very place St Francis composed it 800 years ago. Here in Assisi with an group supported by Laudato Si' Research Institute for an ecumenical Conference about introducing a new Feast in the Church’s calendar.

Delighted to attend the swearing in of the Anglican Centre Rome’s new Director Bishop Ball. With Martin Browne OSB Sr Nathalie Becquart, xmcj amongst others.

Another step in the transition to living in Rome full-time. Much encouraged by the warm welcome offered in the service from ecumenical (and Anglican!) colleagues. Very generous comments from Bishop Michael Burrows in his sermon! Anglican Centre Rome staff made a great lunch.

Honoured to be leading the prayers at the unveiling of the foundation stone of the King Charles III Sacristy Westminster Abbey. Lot’s on … my commissioning as Director of Anglican Centre Rome last Tuesday and the consecration of my successor as Bishop in North Africa last Sun

Glorious service for the 300th Anniversary of the Order of the Bath which has its chapel Westminster Abbey. HM The King installed Prince William as Great Master. Dean David Hoyle preached a memorable sermon encouraging members of the Order to take its values out into society.

Boarding the flight back to London after a packed few days hosting the Anglican delegation to the Inauguration of Pope Leo XIV’s Pontificate at the Anglican Centre Rome. An honour to meet him at the audience this morning and greatly encouraged by his address. Praying for him!

Attended my first Wednesday audience with Pope Leo. Quite an experience-sunburn will pass but the memory of this encounter will linger. St Augustine (of Hippo!) was an immediate connection between Bp Rowan and the Pope. Getting used to being Director of Anglican Centre Rome.

Whilst Westminster Abbey colleagues received President Macron yesterday, I shared a farewell Eucharist and lunch for the Jim Linthicum. He’s leaving Anglican Centre Rome after 2 years as Associate Priest. Wishing him the very best as he returns to hospital chaplaincy in UK.
