A DOC 200 going off in the ceiling space above our room early this morning definitely wakes you up. Good to get a rat that we've seen (on camera) and heard.

Great to see Predator Free Timaru monitoring pests and birds so they can measure the outcomes of their mahi thepress.co.nz/nz-news/360734…

This is one of the first confirmed thermal videos of a weasel, tagged by Ellen at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne Ecosanctuary. Thankfully, they think they've caught all the weasels from this incursion now

This is is the prototype of the new NZ Autotraps self resetting rat trap. A DOC AI Cam was used to identify the best place to mount it: most of the rats were in the trees. It also captures it's operation. The video is snipped after the rat is caught, before it is ejected.

Our new release of the Cacophony Sidekick App makes it easier to set up the AI on the camera and now shows the battery voltage. 2040.co.nz/blogs/news/set…

We have released a new improved bird recognition model that seems to be working much better. Here's an example of a bellbird that was automatically identified in Akaroa. We'll be expanding the birds we identify soon: 2040.co.nz/blogs/news/bir…

This is a video of a stoat captured by a DOC AI Cam on Orkney Islands. A trail camera next to it failed to trigger. Note: while the thermal camera captured the stoat, the AI failed to identify it, instead marking it as unidentified which was then corrected.

Here's an example of a Kākā whose call was automatically identified by the DOC AI Cam. This is from Glenfern Sanctuary, Great Barrier.

This is a thermal video of a bittern taken in the Coromandel. We don't currently recognise bittern so the AI guessed it was a kiwi.

The DOC AI Cam can now detect kiwi on audio and thermal. This is the first example we found of a kiwi call identified by our new algorithm

Did the AI correctly identify a NZ Falcon/Kārearea here? From Bluff Hill Motupōhue. Bird of the year from Forest & Bird . We're not sure.

We've made some significant improvements to the accuracy of our recognition algorithms for thermal videos made by the DOC AI Cam. 2040.co.nz/blogs/news/the…

This video shows examples of monitoring pukeko using the DOC AI Cam. There are examples of both thermal video and audio detection. The calls are automatically identified by the AI.

We've reprocessed old audio recordings to extract some trends of bird biodiversity in Akaroa. More tui and bellbird, less blackbirds and rūrū. 2040.co.nz/blogs/news/how…

Capital Kiwi shared a video showing two kiwi at Zealandia: a little spotted on the inside of the fence and a North Island Brown on the outside. Very cool.
