The NBA - which dedicated part of the 2023 All-Star Game to Karl Malone and had him come out and take photos with LeBron and Kareem - doesn't want kids to be asking uncomfortable questions during their games.

The NBA is comfortable partnering with gambling companies and alcohol brands. But a promotion tied to lemon pepper wings from Atlanta’s famous Magic City crossed the line. That contradiction sparked a bigger conversation. I wrote about it. open.substack.com/pub/shybrown20…

This is a member of Congress calling for the ethnic cleansing of millions of American citizens, based on their faith. And Speaker Mike Johnson has nothing to say. Nor does the President, of course. The US media, essentially, is fine with this. This is how Nazism comes to America:

Bam just had the grossest historic game ever. He became the first ever player to score 70 while shooting under 50% on FGs (20/43). He attempted 43 free throws and made 36, both the most ever. He played 42 minutes & his team intentionally fouled to prolong a 30-point blowout.

I do not blame Bam or the Heat for going for it, but that really sucked to watch and it really sucks that moves past a legitimate 81-point game. Warriors intentionally fouled to help Wilt get 100, so it’s not like it’s never been done, but at least he already had the record.

Somebody flopping their way to an 80-point game against a team doing its best to lose on purpose is such a perfect defining moment for Adam Silver's NBA.

For anybody to sniff the record, it was always gonna take some mix of a guy playing close to 48, a coach that lets it unfold, and some dismissal of ethics. It was fun even if he chased it. I just don’t get people chasing likes by tweeting about the state of the Wiz tank.

Very funny that the “why can’t you enjoy basketball” shtick is being used to defend Bam drawing 43 free throws against Anthony Gill & Tristan Vukcevic as the Heat foul Wiz guys late in a 150-129 win. Don’t blame Bam or Miami but we don’t have to pretend that was beautiful hoops.

For any Wizards fan freaking out, just remember the Thunder lost by 73 to the Grizzlies during their rebuild, and now they are world champions.

I'm still hopeful about Bilal but my enthusiasm has fallen of a cliff this last year. I really thought he was going to a legitmate core player. Still holding out a tiny bit of hope but the regression this season on offense is really demoralizing.

Alex Sarr did get cooked in the first quarter. But Sarr held Bam to 15 points on a .466 TS% over the rest of the 12 minutes Sarr was on the court with Bam. Meanwhile, Sarr scored 14 points on a .588 TS% over that same span.
